Kanye West & Mos Def Freestyle At Brooklyn’s Blue Note Jazz Club

Monday, February 28th, 2011

While I was out righting someone else’s wrongs and getting to the bottom of a messy situation (pause) in Midtown Manhattan, fans at Blue Note Jazz Club were treated to a dope surprise when Lupe performed an announced set. They were granted a special surprise when Mr. West and Mos Def hopped on stage and started spittin’ off the dome, Common-style. I love Kanye when he’s in this raw, spur of the moment zone, because I really think that this is really where he shines.

Shout out to Steve Stoute…you know what this shit ’bout
My whole family… now I’m scared of the Grammys
Cause everybody know that Dark Fantasy,
was the highest rated album in history, get me?
So I just avoid it, not to be exploited, not be recorded
Cause I cannot afford it, I cannot afford more shit and be in more debt

Well, I mean he DOES have a point…My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy was one of the greatest albums in years. Somehow I don’t see this being over…do I smell a G.O.O.D. Friday revival? Although that this is just a snippet of a 30 minute freestyle, this 7:33 is more than enough.

Shouts to Nah Right for this!

Video: Rihanna Brings Out Drake and Kanye West At NBA All-Star Game Halftime Performance

Rihanna and those succulent thighs took the stage at the NBA All-Star Game to rip down the Staples Center during the halftime show. Just to flex my Ms. Cleo muscle and my niceness with stage shows, I turned to my “bud” and said…”here comes Drake” and seconds later, Drake with his dope jacket and his ridiculously clownish haircut stepped on stage.

I followed up with saying, here comes Kanye, and then the horns play. At the NBA knows how to put on a halftime show…#justsaying.

Oh yeah, Happy Birthday Rih!

*daps RR for this*

HOLY SHIT!!! This is the Kanye West that I missed. If this video doesn’t win “Video Of The Year” at the 2011 VMAs, I will personally grab a bottle of Henny, throw on a leather outfit, shave a crazy design in my hair and interrupt who ever the actual winner was. Not only is the typography in this video on a hundred thousand trillion, but Rihanna’s side boobie was kinda nice too #justsaying. Props to the legendary Hype Williams for this amazing video. Ok lemme stop gassing this shit up.

Props to Rap-Up

I’m surprised more of these videos haven’t been done before seeing as most of Kanye’s tracks would sound incredibly DOPE covered by a full orchestra. This shit is on some supa dupa shit.

Jay-Z & Kanye West – H.A.M. [Prod. by Lex Luger]

Tuesday, January 11th, 2011

Ok, so upon first listen, I was ready to stand up on my desk and act wild but the more I listen, the more I realized that every segment of this track was just OK to me. Nice that Lex didn’t break out the usual “B.M.F.”-ish beat, but you can hear it peek through at times throughout the track. The one thing that I loved was that Hov continues to show these young cats who really is boss. Just when the up and comers think that they’ve impressed the game, Jay comes through with a flow that makes you think that you’re listening to a 20-year old Jay-Z all over again. All in all, I’m hoping that Watch The Throne has some more heat than this. But than again, everyone’s a critic.

According to Mr. West, the first single off Watch The Throne, the joint effort between he and his big bro Hov, is slated to drop this Tuesday (1.11.11….how cool right bro??), while Watch The Throne is rumored to have a March release date. “H.A.M.” (aka Hatin’ Ass Motherfucka” is produced by Lex Luger.

My whole feeling on this project is that it can go one of two ways; it can either be one of those projects that is revolutionary and becomes a classic or it can become possibly one of the biggest flops. What are YOU thinking?

Check out MTV’s breakdown of “H.A.M.” and Watch The Throne here.
