Big Sean – High (feat. Wiz Khalifa & Chiddy Bang)

Tuesday, June 14th, 2011

Out of all of the tracks that I could have posted from Sean’s Finally Famous album, I chose “High,” because in a weird way, it’s one of the stand out tracks on the album, which really reminded me of Sean’s earliest material. Not to mention the homie Wiz is featured on the track (hence the name of the track). Expect a full album review of Big Sean’s Finally Famous, coming soon, because I am so effin’ surprised at how DOPE this album is.

And just because the rest of the interwebs are buzzing about this track, Sean and ‘Ye performed this last week at the Heineken G.O.O.D. Music Showcase, and this will most definitely be my theme music for the summer. Marvin Gaye and Chardonnay, anybody?

Kelly Rowland – Lay It On Me (feat. Big Sean)

Tuesday, June 14th, 2011

The first of many Big Sean-related posts tonight, so please excuse me. Ms. Kelly is preparing to keep things moving while she has the number 1 R&B record in the country with the Weezy-assisted, “Motivation,” which might just be the got damn sexiest record ever. “Lay It On Me” was produced by Hit Boy and penned by Ester Dean, and features Big Sean and could quite possibly be a HUGE second single for Kelly, especially with summer time coming.

Who ever is controlling her project this time around, is on the right track because THIS my friends, is the proper way to strategize and plot out a proper roll-out. Kelly’s Here I Am is slated for a July release.

Kanye West – Mama’s Boyfriend

Tuesday, June 14th, 2011

After ‘Ye performed this at the Facebook headquarters last summer, we later learned that it unfortunately didn’t make the cut for My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, and now I understand why. “Mama’s Boyfriend” sounds like a leftover from The College Dropout, and I don’t give one fuck because this shit is DOPE! Shouts to all the fellas who are their mama’s little boys.

Gym Class Heroes – Stereo Hearts (feat. Adam Levine)

Sunday, June 12th, 2011

After having a HUGE summer single last summer, with the Bruno Mars-assisted, “Billionaire,” Travie teams back up with the Gym Class Heroes for their upcoming The Papercut Chronicles II, which is slated to drop before year’s end. The first single is the Benny Blanco-produced “Stereo Hearts,” which so happens to feature Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine on the hook. This will definitely get a lot of poolside, margarita play.

Beyonce – I Care

Sunday, June 12th, 2011

The Queen B aint letting the fact that her album leaked over 3 weeks before it’s release date get her down. Sooo, if she doesn’t care, then I don’t care. Having had time to sit with the album, I originally wanted to say that it wasn’t her strongest, which I still stand by, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t tracks that I don’t mess with. “I Care” is one of those tracks.

Beyonce had said that she was integrated so many different sounds into this album, and “I Care” is one of those tracks that is still a total R&B track, while still having the noticeable influences of sounds of other genres. B’s 4 officially drops on June 28th.

Gavin DeGraw – Not Over You

Sunday, June 12th, 2011

Some new shit from Gavin DeGraw. When I’m in my white-music mode, this song will get played non-stop, but I have a few qualms about the song. It was co-produced by Ryan Tedder, which I could have told you before I even knew that, which is also why I’m going to say that this isn’t a “Gavin DeGraw song.”

The words and melodies are very Gavin, but the production is much poppier and higher-produced than a lot of Gavin’s previous material, which I attribute to Ryan Tedder, who is the lead singer of One Republic and has also penned hits for everyone from Beyonce to Cobra Starship to Chris Brown. Good to finally have some new music from Gavin DeGraw…his new album Sweeter hits stores August 9th.
